A Complete Chronology of Taylor Swift's Pets: from 2011 Meredith to Benjamin Button

Discover what makes A Complete Chronology of Taylor Swift's Pets: from 2011 Meredith to Benjamin Button remains a key topic with our thorough coverage.

Benjamin Button joined the household under far less planned circumstances. During the April 2019 video shoot for "ME!", the lead single off Lover, production staff introduced a blue-eyed Ragdoll kitten for a brief narrative sequence where Brendon Urie hands Swift an animal peace offering.

The animal handler offered Swift the chance to hold the kitten between takes. Within minutes, the kitten curled into Swift’s neck, purring loudly and refusing to leave her arms. Swift asked on the spot if the cat was available for adoption. The handler confirmed he was part of an animal rescue program looking for a permanent home. Swift signed the paperwork before leaving the soundstage, christening him Benjamin Button after the F. Scott Fitzgerald protagonist because the cat purred like an engine and seemed to grow younger and more energetic by the day.

Benjamin quickly developed a very different public profile from his feline sisters. He rode Swift's shoulders during tour rehearsals, perched like a stole around her neck for the cover of Time magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year issue, and regularly crashed livestream broadcasts.
