Descendants 5 Release Date and Full Cast Roster: What We Know Right Now
The headline casting development for Descendants 5 centers on comedic force Awkwafina, who steps into the role of Chessy. Reported by trade outlets on June 8, 2026, the casting signals Disney's intent to inject seasoned, unpredictable comedic timing into Wonderland's chaotic politics. Chessy serves as a modern spin on the Cheshire Cat, balancing allegiance between the royal court and underground rebel factions.
Returning to anchor the story is Kylie Cantrall as Red, the rebellious Princess of Hearts whose time-travel antics reshaped the royal history of Wonderland. Beside her stands Malia Baker as Chloe Charming, the meticulous daughter of Cinderella and King Charming. Their dynamic provided the spark that rebooted the franchise in 2024, and executives have kept their evolving partnership as the emotional center of this fifth installment.
Behind the camera, the creative leadership doubles down on the elaborate, hyper-stylized choreography that defined the fourth movie. Audition notices circulating in Vancouver and Atlanta throughout early 2026 pointed to dozens of specialized dancers cast to portray card guards, Wonderland tricksters, and new transfers arriving at Auradon Prep.
