Did the 'Nashville' Stars Really Sing? the True Story Behind the Actors' Real Musical Talents
Did the actors play their own instruments on the show?
Yes, in the vast majority of scenes. Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, and Jonathan Jackson played their own guitar and piano parts during takes. While studio tracks utilized master session players like Colin Linden for intricate lead licks, the actors maintained their own accompaniment on set and played live during all concert tours.
Did Connie Britton have a singing background before joining the show?
Britton had minimal professional singing experience prior to being cast as Rayna Jaymes. She spent months undergoing rigorous vocal training with top Nashville coaches and producer T Bone Burnett to develop an authentic Americana singing style that matched her character's veteran status.
Are the songs from the series available on official albums?
Yes. Big Machine Records released 22 official soundtrack collections, season compilations, and Christmas albums throughout the show's six-season run from 2012 to 2018. These releases have collectively sold more than 5 million tracks and generated hundreds of millions of digital streams worldwide.
