Fact Check: Does Searching 'Z or R Twice' Still Work on Google Today?
Q1: Why does my browser not spin when I search "z or r twice"?
A1: The animation is suppressed if your operating system or browser has accessibility settings configured to "prefers-reduced-motion." Additionally, third-party extensions that disable custom website styles or third-party enterprise proxy filters can strip the animation class.
Q2: Is there any difference between searching "do a barrel roll" and "z or r twice"?
A2: No. Both queries call the exact same client-side CSS keyframe animation block. "Do a barrel roll" is the general phrase, while "z or r twice" references the specific button input from the Nintendo 64 controller.
Q3: Does the barrel roll trick work on mobile browsers?
A3: Yes. Testing on current versions of Chrome and Safari on iOS and Android confirms that entering either phrase into the search box causes the mobile viewport and search card stack to rotate 360 degrees smoothly.
