Heartbreak in Jeddah: Why Cristiano Ronaldo Wept After Al-Nassr's Crushing King Cup Defeat
Ronaldo's competitive focus does not end at the Saudi borders. Despite persistent speculation regarding his international retirement following major tournaments, the forward has maintained an open channel with Portugal's coaching staff. National team coach Roberto Martínez has consistently maintained that Ronaldo remains available for selection so long as his fitness and club productivity meet the standard.
This dual ambition complicates his seasonal trajectory. An international window demands long flights to Europe, shifting time zones, and high-intensity tactical drills. Al-Nassr management works in lockstep with the Portuguese federation's sports science division to guarantee that his competitive load remains balanced. Skipping early rounds of the Saudi King's Cup gives him the physical cushion required to deliver top-tier performances when he pulls on the national jersey.
