Is the New Nuc Box the Ultimate Mini Pc? Inside Asrock's Wildcat Lake Breakthrough
At the heart of the system sits the Intel Core Ultra 7 358H. The processor deploys 16 execution cores organized across high-IPC performance cores, cluster-optimized efficient cores, and ultra-low-power cores integrated directly into the SoC tile. For budget-conscious setups, ASRock also provides a lower tier equipped with the Core Ultra 5 325, but the 358H remains the showcase configuration.
Raw compute performance is backed by a reworked integrated AI NPU capable of handling sustained inferencing tasks locally. Instead of offloading background transcription, video masking, or edge vision processing to the cloud, the onboard silicon processes lightweight transformer models locally. Notebookcheck’s technical coverage highlighted that this generation finally delivers enough unified memory throughput to run local large language models without choking system responsiveness.
Memory speeds play an essential role here. Populating the two SO-DIMM slots with 64 GB sticks operating at DDR5-5600 or DDR5-6400 speeds allows the Panther Lake memory controller to push over 85 GB/s in memory read operations. This bandwidth directly benefits the integrated Xe3-LPG graphics, giving creative pros smooth playback during timeline scrubbing and rendering in multi-monitor setups.
