Johnny Lewis Timeline: from Sons of Anarchy Stardom to the Los Feliz Tragedy
Five days after leaving jail, Lewis arrived at the Writer's Villa, a bed-and-breakfast run by Catherine Davis in Los Feliz. Davis had rented rooms to writers, actors, and directors for decades, and Lewis had previously lived there during happier years. Davis welcomed him back, believing he was on the road to recovery.
The peace dissolved on the morning of September 26. Eyewitnesses next door heard screams emanating from the residence. Lewis leaped over a boundary fence, physically assaulting a painter working nearby before attacking an adjacent homeowner with bare fists and wooden planks. Witnesses recounted that Lewis possessed unnatural, frantic strength, his eyes wide and completely detached from reality.
When the neighbor managed to force Lewis back across the fence line and lock the gate, Lewis retreated into the main house. Police arrived within minutes. Inside the villa, they discovered Catherine Davis bludgeoned and strangled to death in an upstairs bedroom. In the driveway outside, Lewis's body lay cracked against the concrete. Investigators concluded he either jumped or fell from a high terrace while attempting to scale the structure or flee the crime scene.
