Rayj Dennis Contract & Roster Reality: Will Atlanta Convert His Deal?
Q1: What is RayJ Dennis's current contract status with the Atlanta Hawks?
A1: Dennis is signed to a two-way contract, agreed upon on December 31, 2025. This allows him to split time between the Atlanta Hawks and their NBA G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks, up to a maximum of 50 NBA regular season games.
Q2: Can RayJ Dennis play for the Hawks in the NBA Playoffs?
A2: No, not under his current two-way agreement. Players on two-way contracts are ineligible for the postseason. Atlanta would have to convert his contract to a standard NBA deal prior to the final day of the regular season for him to suit up in the play-in tournament or playoffs.
Q3: How does a roster conversion affect Atlanta's salary cap?
A3: A two-way contract does not count toward a team’s salary cap. Once converted to a standard deal, Dennis's salary becomes a prorated portion of the NBA rookie minimum, which counts directly against Atlanta’s team payroll and luxury tax calculations.
