The Complete Thackery Binx Guide: Curse Lore, Fate, and Hocus Pocus Secrets
Q1: Why are Sean Murray and Jason Marsden both credited for Thackery Binx?
A1: Sean Murray played Thackery Binx in his human form during the 1693 prologue and the 1993 graveyard finale. Jason Marsden provided the entire voiceover for the cat throughout the movie after the creative team decided Murray's natural voice sounded too modern for a seventeenth-century colonial boy.
Q2: Did Binx appear in Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)?
A2: No, Thackery Binx did not return in the 2022 sequel. His soul was permanently laid to rest with Emily in the original 1993 film. However, the sequel included a nod to him via Cobweb, a regular black cat residing inside the magic shop, voiced purely through natural feline sounds rather than human dialogue.
Q3: How did Binx survive being run over by a bus in the original film?
A3: Binx was immortal while the Sanderson Sisters lived. Winifred's curse stated that he would live forever, which magically reconstituted his flattened body moments after the bus ran him over. His immortality ended only after the witches were turned to dust at sunrise.
