The Scene That Never Dies: Why Frozone's Super Suit Clip in the Incredibles Still Dominates Viral Feeds
When development began on Incredibles 2 ahead of its 2018 premiere, early concept art and storyboards explored finally revealing Honey on screen. Character designers sketched potential outfits, hairstyles, and facial expressions for Lucius's long-suffering spouse.
Brad Bird ultimately scrapped the design. He realized that giving Honey a canonical face would ruin the joke. For nearly fifteen years, audiences had projected their own mothers, aunts, wives, and partners onto that disembodied voice coming from down the hall. Showing her in 3D would shrink an infinite shared mental image into a single static character model.
Her voice reappeared briefly in the sequel, again voiced by Clark, refusing to let Lucius skip town without another sharp remark. Keeping Honey as an off-screen presence preserved the theatrical aura of the bit, leaving the original 2004 comedic timing completely untouched.
