Timeline of New Openings at the Shops at Blackstone Valley Through 2027
The centerpiece of the retail center's revitalization centers on two confirmed arrivals: taproom powerhouse Yard House and consumer electronics giant Apple. Both moves resolve long-standing gaps in the Route 146 corridor's retail mix, which has historically lacked high-capacity casual dining and premium personal technology retail.
Yard House is claiming a prominent 10,500-square-foot footprint near the center’s main roundabout. Municipal permit filings show extensive structural retrofits, including custom glycol beer lines built to service more than 100 draft taps, a high-capacity commercial kitchen, and an all-weather covered outdoor patio designed to seat 80 patrons. The opening addresses persistent community demand for late-night dining options in a corridor dominated by fast-casual lunch counters.
Directly across the interior drive, Apple's arrival represents the culmination of a multi-year regional recruitment drive. Previously, Central Massachusetts consumers faced a 30-mile drive east to Natick or west to Holyoke for authorized Genius Bar repairs and direct product launches. The new Millbury storefront spans roughly 8,200 square feet, utilizing Apple's latest open-forum architectural template with polished terrazzo floors, energy-efficient acoustic ceiling baffles, and dedicated avenues for pickup orders.
