Torrey Pines Closure Timeline: Key Dates, Upgrade Schedules, and Estimated Reopening
Q1: Are all trails at Torrey Pines currently open to the public?
A1: Yes. As of March 2, 2026, California State Parks reopened the Beach Trail, Guy Fleming Trail, Razor Point Trail, and associated overlooks following the completion of scheduled safety and erosion mitigation work.
Q2: Can I walk on the beach back to my car instead of hiking up the trail?
A2: Only during low tide. If you descend the Beach Trail to Flat Rock, you can only walk along the sand to the South Beach parking lot if the tide is low enough. High tides wash against the cliffs, blocking beach transit and creating severe safety risks.
Q3: Are dogs allowed on the Torrey Pines Beach Trail?
A3: No. Dogs, horses, and pets of any kind are strictly prohibited within the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and on the state beach directly below it to protect native wildlife and sensitive plants.
